Surprise!!!

That is what I heard when I walked into my house at 5pm last Saturday. Yes, that's right a surprise party just for me. A week before my actual day of birth to throw me off. Tyler did a very good job at putting the whole thing together. It all started 3 weeks ago. He called my sister Julliana to see if she could help distract me. She did a very good job at that...crafts are our weakness. She invited me over to make this cute little thing.

While I was painting and sanding away, Tyler was decorated the house in anything pink and princess-y that he could find at Wally World. Also, during the last 3 weeks that he has been planning this he was calling and invited our brazilian family and friends, and people I haven't seen in a while.
After finishing our craft Julliana, Troy and the boys came over to see our house. I was planning on have a quiet night at home where Troy would work on our light switch. Instead, I walked into this...

(Don't mind my tie-dye girls camp t-shirt, and my hair looking crazy--I don't really dress up to spray paint and sand wood.)
Don't get me wrong...after the intial shock of seeing 20 people sitting around in my living room singing to me. I loved the whole idea. I got my first princess party ever!!!! When your birthday falls 3 days before the scariest holiday, you don't really grow up having girly parties. We had costume parties, went to the pumpkin patch, and everything was decorated in orange and black. When that happens you grow up not really loving Halloween. Anyways....

I am not nearly as good of a photographer as my sister, or Teri Cano, but I try. However, Tyler doesn't really try at all. I am trying to teach him to at least count down from 3 when he takes pictures, when he takes pictures have the people aren't looking, and when they are half of them are talking, blinking or have some kind of weird face, because no one is prepared for his pictures. So when you enjoy the pictures from the party take all with a grain of salt. :)

Getting sung to and getting help from Lincoln
and Macie with blowing out the candles.

Tyler gave me a book of our blog and tickets to a Utah Grizzles game.

Also, this last week we add some additions to our house. We found a park bench on KSL for FIVE DOLLARS. Yes, that's right only 5 bones. So we jumped on that and fixed it up so that we can add a little something-something to our back porch. We also finished a shelf to put in the front living room I am still trying to find a console/sofa table to put underneath it.

Moving

So it has been a crazy, busy last month. We moved from Ogden to Layton to be closer to our jobs, since our two schools are 3 miles away from each other. We moved from this...

A one bedroom, one bath basement apartment to this...

A three bedroom, one bath HOUSE!

Hallelujah we have grown out of our basement apartment phase of our lives! I am so glad to be able to see so much sunlight coming in from our windows! I love that we don't hear the base thumping from Jose's rap music upstairs. There are many pros to our lovely home. Check it out...

Living Room

Football is on all Saturdays...be it xbox or real.

The third bedroom is turned into a office/craft room/game room,
or like Tyler likes to call it "The room that is all things sweet."

Tyler's favorite = our Portugal corner.

I now have a craft table instead of sitting on the floor.
Tyler likes to call it "The Creation Station."

Our game and movie collection.

The future baby hoch's room.
(no we are not announcing anything) :)

The backyard ready for parties!
(Maybe one in a couple weeks for a special person's 25th?)

Football

Now that it's fall, which means two things...cooler weather and football. We ventured off to Logan to see the Wyoming Cowboys play the Aggies. We dressed up in our (borrowed) cowboy gear and traveled with Tyler's sister and husband, one of the biggest WU fans ever, to chilly Logan to cheer on the pokes. Sadly, our cheering didn't really help, they lost 63-19. TJ was not a happy camper. However, the aggie ice cream we had was divine!

Front row baby!

Extreme Makeover: Classroom Edition

That's right...once I found out I got the job at Knowlton,  I have been think about what I want to do with my classroom (who am I kidding I have been thinking about this since I graduated college or even before). I came to the conclusion that I wanted to have a "Tropical/Luau" theme. I thought it would be fun to have bright colors in the classroom, and a fun festive atmosphere when the kids come to school. So Tropical it was. Throughout the summer I had been collected everything and anything I could that would work in my classroom. Enjoy the before and after pictures:

Back to School

The time has come! School has started and Tyler and I had our first day of school...as teachers!!!

I may be a little bias but I honestly have the cutest class. I have 18 boys and 10 girls--kind of lopsided, however no drama! My girls are super cute and drama free, they all get along, really my whole class gets along. They are super smart and work hard. Now this can all change come mid-year when their true colors all come out. :) But I doubt it! The only downfall of have 18 boys is that after recesses there is an unpleasant odor in the room. :) I will be investing in any and all air freshners.

Tyler is more on the relaxed side of things. At Mountain High they are doing a school-wide experiment and activities for the first 2 weeks of school. Therefore, his first day of teaching is the day after Labor Day. Super lame! But he is really enjoying getting to know the kids and see their personalities.
