2011 at a glance

Check out our video for 2011! (Click on the video tab above) It's crazy to see all that we have done in just 12 months. Time sure does fly! This time last year we were starting out in student teaching. Now we have our own careers and are in a fabulous house in layton! It can only go up from here!

Merry Christmas...

We had a fabulous holiday break. We were able to change up a couple things to house. Instead of having an empty extra room, Tyler turned it into his man cave...we'll see how long that lasts once school starts up again.

 

 

For Christmas Eve we spent it with the Hoch's. It was wonderful! I wish I had my camera. We had a wonderful dinner at Robb and Melissa's, then the cousins acted out the Nativity, it was super cute. We also got into the Tebow spirit. :)

Christmas was fun...we opened our presents and played a little with them. Our church was 12-1 so we had to get ready in the middle of the day, take a break and go to church, then we came back and had the whole family over. It was fun to get the whole DeMacedo clan together. It had been a while since all of us were together. Played some Wii Fit, Glee Karaoke and messed around with the little boys.

Now we have a week left of break, then it's a new year and new semester. Our last hoorah for the break will be hanging out with Tyler's sister, Tiffany...

...before she departs to BYU-I to get hitched...um I mean get an education. :)

Thanksgiving...and the after math

This Thanksgiving we went and spent our break with these guys...

It was a blast! We played different sports, games, watched movies, and DANCED! Just Dance 2 and 3 are totally addicting!!!! Fabulous investments if I don't say so myself. I love how Tyler's parents have a fireplace in their living room, it was burning everyday all day long...I don't know what it is but they just also spend a little more of that holiday spirit when they are in use.
Another big reason we went up to Seattle was to see the Apple Cup. It was my first non-BYU or Utah State football game. Let's just say college students outside of Utah are way to crazy! (and drunk). But it was fun to see the Seahawk Stadium in person. It get me more excited to see a real NFL game someday. (Maybe one that included a certain Tebow QB).

Our time up there was fun and very enjoyable, however it's always hard to come back from a break and get back into the routine of things. I had a sub for my class while we were flying back on Monday. I was trying to stay on track and not get behind. And then this happened....

Tyler and I drove to work on Thursday morning of the windstorm. Eventually school was cancelled and we came back home at 11. When we got back we saw our neighbors shed upside in our back yard. Not sure how it happened. Our fence was untouched and the power lines above our house were intacted. It must have slipped right inbetween the gap of the two. Needless to say, we stayed in all day, drinking hot cocoa and putting up our Christmas decorations.

Friday, all Davis schools were closed so we had a another break and that night we went to see The Forgotten Carols! I love it! The music, the actors, the story all of it!!!

With 2 days of school off that I didn't expect, now it's crunch time to get all I need to get in before the break. So I have been super busy trying to plan my schedule to get everything taught that I need (and want). That is why I am late on my post. Wish me luck!

Come What May, and Love it

This weekend we were able to go and have a late night at my parents house. My mom finished her second round of chemo, and had an appointment on Wednesday. We got some good news! She is done with chemo!!!! She originally was scheduled to have 5 rounds of chemo and radiation. But her counts were all good and she was all clean so she no longer needs the chemo. She will continue with some radiation to help her hormone counts. Her medication is also lowered! So we decided to celebrate! My mom still didn't feel like going out so we grabbed some IN N OUT and stayed in. My brother and Tyler have been trying to get me to watch Lord of the Rings for the longest time now so I caved. But 45 seconds into the movie my mom and I just started making fun of all the weird stuff going on in the movie. We only got through about half of the movie and then just fast forwarded to the end. Even that seemed like an eternity. But it was still a fun night.
While we were driving home I couldn't stop thinking about how strong my mom is. She never let's a trial bother her. "Come What May, and Love it" is definately her motto. She also says, "If Heavenly Father didn't want me to have this trial He wouldn't give it to me." I look up to her so much and love her dearly. She is always smiling and loves life. She makes me appreciate everything I have, and never take anything for granted. I don't know how she does it...being diagnosed with MS 4 years ago, having breast cancer and doing chemo, and still being strong as ever. I don't know how she does it, but I'm glad she's a fighter, because I can't imagine my life without her. I love you mom!

Surprise!!!

That is what I heard when I walked into my house at 5pm last Saturday. Yes, that's right a surprise party just for me. A week before my actual day of birth to throw me off. Tyler did a very good job at putting the whole thing together. It all started 3 weeks ago. He called my sister Julliana to see if she could help distract me. She did a very good job at that...crafts are our weakness. She invited me over to make this cute little thing.

While I was painting and sanding away, Tyler was decorated the house in anything pink and princess-y that he could find at Wally World. Also, during the last 3 weeks that he has been planning this he was calling and invited our brazilian family and friends, and people I haven't seen in a while.
After finishing our craft Julliana, Troy and the boys came over to see our house. I was planning on have a quiet night at home where Troy would work on our light switch. Instead, I walked into this...

Don't get me wrong...after the intial shock of seeing 20 people sitting around in my living room singing to me. I loved the whole idea. I got my first princess party ever!!!! When your birthday falls 3 days before the scariest holiday, you don't really grow up having girly parties. We had costume parties, went to the pumpkin patch, and everything was decorated in orange and black. When that happens you grow up not really loving Halloween. Anyways....

I am not nearly as good of a photographer as my sister, or Teri Cano, but I try. However, Tyler doesn't really try at all. I am trying to teach him to at least count down from 3 when he takes pictures, when he takes pictures have the people aren't looking, and when they are half of them are talking, blinking or have some kind of weird face, because no one is prepared for his pictures. So when you enjoy the pictures from the party take all with a grain of salt. :)

Also, this last week we add some additions to our house. We found a park bench on KSL for FIVE DOLLARS. Yes, that's right only 5 bones. So we jumped on that and fixed it up so that we can add a little something-something to our back porch. We also finished a shelf to put in the front living room I am still trying to find a console/sofa table to put underneath it.

So it has been a crazy, busy last month. We moved from Ogden to Layton to be closer to our jobs, since our two schools are 3 miles away from each other. We moved from this...

Hallelujah we have grown out of our basement apartment phase of our lives! I am so glad to be able to see so much sunlight coming in from our windows! I love that we don't hear the base thumping from Jose's rap music upstairs. There are many pros to our lovely home. Check it out...
